I am originally from Greers Ferry, Arkansas a small town about three hours west of Memphis and one and a half hours north of Little Rock. In my spare time I like running, reading (literature as well as economics), live music, and travel.

I like to read fiction for the most part and always have some book going, my favorite authors are John Steinbeck, Albert Camus, Bret Ellis, Hunter S. Thompson, and Arturo Perez-Reverte as a start.

I visited NYC in Spring 2018 for a workshop and Jeremy Bentham happened to be visiting from University College London, his first time outside of UCL since his death. Picture below from the Met Breuer where he was on display.

From March to July 2020 I am spending a semester at the Universidad Católica del Norte in Antofagasta, Chile. (or was if this is after July). I gave a presentation as part of an initial Fulbright program in Santiago in February which is included below. Also included are two pictures, one of myself and the other of the other faculty and student Fulbright recipients for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Below is the announcement from a seminar presentation I gave at Universidad EAFIT in Medellin Colombia in June 2012. I thought the announcement that was made for the event was cool, most likely related to its being in Spanish.

At the VII Congreso del Consejo de Estudios Internacionales held in Salto, Argentina in November 2025, I presented an analysis (in Spanish) on the links between fiscal inequality, labor migration, and the informal economy in South America. The talk highlighted how these dynamics shape state resilience and regional security, arguing that durable stability requires strengthening fiscal capacity, coordinating institutions, and supporting gradual labor formalization rather than relying solely on border enforcement. The video of the presentation is available below.
